Originally built by Piper as a “Saratoga SP” in 1989, N777TH went back to the factory in 1993 to be converted to “Saratoga II HP” standards to be used as a proof-of-concept and marketing airplane for their new “II HP” series. As the very first Saratoga II HP, 777TH was upgraded with the new style cowl, all-metal instrument panel, new exhaust system, new prop, new paint, new interior, new window cutouts and liner, various speed enhancements, and a 90-amp alternator. The current owner bought the airplane in 2005 and has maintained it in a fully-enclosed hangar in the dry central-Texas climate since that time. 777TH has no known damage history although there are minor “hangar rash” imperfections on the trailing edges of both ailerons. The Saratoga II HP is the logical step-up for the pilot needing more seats or speed. It is often described as one of the most comfortable, roomy and easy to fly single-engine aircraft ever built.
